I have spent the last two years training on a Church of England full-time contextual pathway at St Hild College in Mirfield.  This means that I have spent part of my time studying at college while spending the rest of my time on a parish placement in Keighley.  During my placement I have been emersed in mission and outreach work and it has been a privilege to work on projects based in some of the most deprived areas of the town.  It has truly been a blessing to walk alongside people as they have come to know the Gospel message and the love of Jesus for themselves.

As a family, we are very much looking forward to coming and being part of Morton and Riddlesden, a place that we already feel to have good connections with following Katie’s time as Headteacher at East Morton CE Primary school, just a few years ago.  Will is currently sitting his GCSE exams as I type, he has a keen interest in music and computer science, and is a drummer and pianist.  Lottie is also a keen musician, we didn’t force them into music I promise, who plays the baritone horn.  She loves to bake and cook and is a member of the National Youth Children’s Brass Band of GB.  Both of them will be studying at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester next year while continuing to play for BD1 Brass Band.

For a long while now, I have been praying that God will place me where he wants me to be and where I can serve him best.  I am very happy and excited to have been offered my curacy at Morton and Riddlesden and I look forward to meeting you all soon and seeing what God has in store for us.  We will continue to pray for you all and I would appreciate prayer for us as a family as we make this next step.

Every blessing,

Rob Savage

I am Rob Savage, I’m married to Katie and we have two children Will (15) and Lottie (12).  I studied music at the University of Huddersfield where I met Katie.  As we both entered the teaching profession and found our first jobs, we moved to Baildon where over time we took on the role of leading the music at St John’s church.  Before I started my ordination training, I was a senior leader and teacher at Bradford Forster Academy where I taught music and held whole school responsibility for Collective Worship and Christian Ethos.  Katie is now Headteacher at Baildon CE Primary School.

Dear Friends

This month I've given over my column to Rob our new curate, to allow him to introduce himself.
